For a creation to be regarded as a work, it must have attained the high standard required of a work. This implies that the work should display originality or individuality as a result of the originators personal making.
In order to be considered an original work, the creation must have a certain individuality, originality and distinctive character, meaning that two persons would not be able to create the same work independently from one another.
It is the expression of the idea that is protected and not the idea itself. Factual news of the day, or simple forms and the like do not have copyright protection.
